As a Montrealer, I have a very special place in my heart for Maynard Ferguson. My mother had an even more special place in heart as she sang, as a teenager, with Mr. Ferguson. In the 80’s when he was playing on Cape Cod I went and introduced myself to him and he was so gracious and actually remembered my mother and her voice. His horn playing was a very important part of my musical education. His horn playing was a very important part of many folk’s musical education. He will be missed.
